Scarved will play during the Kraken Metal Rock festival the 4th of May (Zick-Zack, Ittre) and as I loved the previous edition I decided to work a bit on the bands who will play there. So first band to be presented is Scarved!

Scarved is a female fronted, four membered rock band from Belgium, with compositions that combine rock and metal. The band is heavily influenced by 70’s classic rock and is incorporating contemporary rock styles, to create the unique scarved sound and keeping the spirit of classic rock alive. The story of scarved begins in june 2012, backstage at the Belgian metal festival Graspop, where Caro, Luc and former bass player Wim meet. A few months later Scarved was born. They already released two albums and I decided to review their latest one in order to promote their passage at the Kraken festival in May.

The album starts with Naughty Reflexes: a fat bass and Caro leading them all in a good way. It all sounds pretty steamy and jolly good rocking! I can say she has a good voice and great guitar players surrounding her. Sweet Surrender is indeed a sweet rocker that makes you surrender to the sound and let yourself go. Halfway we even get a smoking solo. We even get a few spoken words by a man and it sounds pretty cool: giving it a sticky feel. We keep on rocking with Battlefield whilst Toxic Rat Race is lyric wise a real topper with the right attitude. I hear some nice Iron Maiden influences in it. With Lodestone comes the clearest 70’s rock influence and it comes with a smoking gun feeling, just the way I love it!

More great rock’n roll comes with Garden of Eden and Heavy Foot Hero. Heart of Rock’n Roll sounds like a smoked ballad and was also launched as a single, proving they can do more than just rocking. Really love it! Fight For Justice and Convicted Women will reign during their live show as the have it all to keep the audience moving! Maiden Voyage is the last one and rages like a train that received an overload of energy and keeps on boosting its maximum speed. Going out with a blast!

Well I'm looking forward to see them on stage! Keep on rocking!
