De organisatie van Rock Werchter liet weten dat Queens Of The Stone Age zal afzakken naar de weide. De groep was vorig jaar nog te zien op Pukkelpop 2010.

"Dear friends of Rock Werchter, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, who are friends of all festival-goers, have agreed to come and play at Werchter. On Thursday June 30th, they are playing the Main Stage, since Queens of the Stone Age stand for pure rock ’n' roll. Fortunately, on Wikipedia some people have managed to keep track of all past and present members of QOTSA. About forty temporary and semi-steady members, including the present line-up, have passed in review. Only one Queen has been on board since 1997: Josh Homme, singer, guitarist, driving power. He uses this feeling of temporariness for fuel. And look: after 15 years a) Queens Of The Stone Age are still around and b) it is the band of the first answer to the question ‘What is the first band that comes to mind when you are asked to name a real rock band?’. These days, it's all about the fresh start. The band haven't played for a couple of years. Most members have shifted to Eagles Of Death Metal and The Dead Weather while Homme teamed up with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) to fly with with Them Crooked Vultures. In the meanwhile, their first two albums have been re-released in inverted chronological order. Number # 2 ‘Rated R’ (2000) without too much fuss in 2010, the self-titled debut from 1998 early this year, with an accompanying tour which was only aiming at smaller venues. Just like it was back then. After this they will shift into sixth gear and race through the summer with (hopefully) some fresh material. God save the Queens!"
