Blutengel return with their new single and music video "Schwarzer Engel," out now via Out Of Line Music. The track marks the second single from the band's forthcoming new album, to be announced soon, and arrives alongside a four-track CD available for pre-order now, to be released July 17, 2026.
"Schwarzer Engel" does exactly what Blutengel does best: atmospheric, emotionally charged dark electronics anchored by an irresistible melodic pull. The track channels the sweeping synthpop sensibility and duality of longing and darkness that have defined the project across more than two decades, while pointing toward new territory on the forthcoming album.
The full single-EP, also available on CD, extends the track into a full sonic package: US darkwave/EBM duo ghostbells, whose music fuses icy synths, pulsing basslines, reverb-soaked guitars, and melancholic melodies, bring their dancefloor instincts with a club-ready remix. At the opposite end of the spectrum, dark rock unit Erdling contributes a piano cover that strips the track back to its bare emotional core. Dark pop act Destroy Me Again round out the package with their signature blend of driving beats and atmospheric hooks.
Ghostbells and Destroy Me Again will share the stage with Blutengel at the Dark Summer Open Air Vol. 2 at Wasserschloss Klaffenbach in Chemnitz on September 12, 2026. This will be the only full-length Blutengel show in 2026!
