Following the announcement of their brand new album, Hi, last week, Texas have revealed the kaleidoscopic video for their soul-soaked Motown single ‘Mr Haze’, featuring legendary Scottish actor Tommy Flanagan. The track, which is driven by a sample of Donna Summer’s iconic ‘Love’s Unkind’, is the second to be taken from their exhilarating new album, ‘Hi’, out May 28th on BMG.

Directed by the award-winning Scot Simone Smith and filmed in Glasgow, the psychedelic rainbow video for ‘Mr Haze’ sees lead singer Sharleen Spiteri and Tommy Flanagan lose themselves in a sun-drenched backdrop, draped in visuals of Donna Summers. ‘It’s so great to be working with my old friend and now Hollywood star Tommy Flanagan, we met at 14 years old and will always be that age to me’ Sharleen said of the video.

‘Hi’ is Texas’ 10th album, a stunning result of looking back with eyes fixed firmly on the future. Three of the songs were written in lockdown, in Scotland, Wales, LA and Sweden. Collaborations include ‘Dark Fire’, written with Richard Hawley, a lovely tune that recalls the spirit of a slow dance at a high school prom while ‘Look What You’ve Done’, is an intoxicating, classic duet where Sharleen trades verses with Clare Grogan (Altered Images).

“Our excitement at finding this treasure trove of songs collided with our excitement back then and, unplanned, new songs started coming,” Sharleen says. “You could say we were inspired by ourselves!”
