AROGYA – Genesis (Out Of Line Music)

English:CD-review

Arogya from Assam/India present you their new album. "Genesis" deals thematically as well as musically with the story of creation: the past manifests itself in their propulsive synth-rock that creates an 80s nostalgia feeling, while washed-out metal dominates the present and a fine pinch of dark pop stands for the future and is a true feast for the senses - sonically as well as visually. Produced by Chris Harms (Lord of the Lost), Arogya is the first-ever Indian synth-rock band as well as the first band from Northeast India to be signed to an international record label.

Sky Afar is the blasting opening track! Rain’s vocals sound a bit into melancholia and with a soft undertone, but he can also scream like a hungry young wolf! The more you listen to the track, the catchier it gets! Broken sounds a bit faster and harder, with some synths in it. Dust sounds more like a ballad in the beginning, but gets smoothly a faster drive (mixing guitars and a synth). With Lonely Night Descends we get another sweet touch, guided by some guitars and a synth, whilst Rain does his best to sound as melancholic as possible. Dark World gets vocals sung pretty high mixed with some screams. Misery's Lair sounds better than the title and is clearly brought with passion. I like how the synth sounds! There are also a bit of special effects on the vocals. Charade starts with some break beats and something that comes close to drum’n bass. It feels like a mix between The Unguided and Zardonic.Lies starts like a synthpop track, buts gets halfway more guitars and some screams and grunts. Break Free sounds like the best track on the album: cool guitar sound, an amazing synth and great vocals with a touch of melancholia. Last song is Throne and mixes softer parts with energetic outbursts!

The trip was fine, nothing extraordinary, but good enough to review. Maybe you like it more than me, so enjoy!
