The new single GHOSTS showcases Mitchell’s troubadour style of honest and heartfelt indie-folk songwriting, highlighting his raw talent and potential, something the international music press are quickly noticing, with premiere’s from music doyens such as CLASH, EARMILK & XS NOIZE under his belt already.

Glaswegian singer-songwriter and fast-rising talent Murdo Mitchell is back March 25 with brand new single Ghosts, following up his critically acclaimed ‘Stay Nocturnal’ EP released in November 2021, which was masterfully supported by three standalone singles. The new single Ghosts showcases Mitchell’s troubadour style of honest and heartfelt indie-folk songwriting, highlighting his raw talent and potential, something the international music press are quickly noticing, with premiere’s from music doyens such as CLASHEarmilk and XS Noize under his belt already.

Murdo’s musical career began early on when the singer-songwriter started busking in his hometown of Glasgow from the young age of 11-years-old. This was a true indication of his love for performing and writing. He has since then journeyed to performing at some of Scotland’s most revered festivals such as T-In-The ParkBelladrumLinlithgow Folk Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe. Unlike most artists, Mitchell decided to team up with record labels outside of the UK for the release of his debut EP. For the release of the EP, Murdo secured a release with Norwegian record label Compro Records and management with Oslo-based Pick & Mix MGMT, fronted by music industry veteran and British ex-pat, Scott Baker-Marflitt (The Futureheads, Kid Astray, Lazy Queen)

Looking to the immediate future, Murdo returns in the first half of 2022 with incendiary singles, Ghosts and Jaded, which will be supported by promo videos for both. His team now boasts a growing team of heavyweight representation – Pick & Mix MGMT are joined by Swedish indie tastemaker label, Icons Creating Evil Art and X-Ray Touring have been confirmed as agents since summer 2021. With a carefully managed live schedule at the end of 2021, Murdo played prestige shows with Gabe Coulter (The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington), Starsailor (SWG3, Glasgow) and his lifelong friend, Dylan John Thomas (Oslo, Hackney).

Murdo will make a triumphant return to Glasgow on April 29th when he again supports Dylan John Thomas at the already sold out Barrowland Ballroom gig, another rite of passage for him on his continued rise. With the very next day taking in his debut performance at Liverpool Sound City, 2022 is already shaping up to be a very big year!

Speaking on the new single, Murdo states:
- "I wrote Ghosts during lockdown, when you weren’t able to go out of your house, and at the start you were stacking the cupboards like you were preparing for a zombie apocalypse, but there was an element of madness-but-also-almost-fun in the air, then further down the line you were tearing your hair out wanting to get out and away from all the feelings you didn’t know you’d had that were buried deep. It was around the tearing-my-hair-out phase that I wrote Ghosts.

Ghosts is about the vulnerability you open yourself up to in a relationship and the trust that both parties must have in order for it to function. But more especially, it’s probably more to the point of what happens when that trust breaks down"
