The promising Dutch metal band THE UNSLAIN is back! With their brand new single ‘Quintessence’, the four-piece showcases their ability to combine the finest of the classic 80’ Heavy Metal with nowadays Modern Metal creating a crushing new sound they’d like to call Modern Old-School Metal.
"Quintessence":
The track tells the story of ancient scientists who believed that all matter was built up of only 5 elements and relates this to our current world-view, which is bound to also not be 100% correct. The song encapsulates this feeling of ignorance by using an eclectic assortment of riffs using different time signatures and alternating growling and clean vocals, but reassures the listener that it is okay to not know everything with pleasant melodies and a catchy hook. The Unslain is a four piece Modern Old-School Metal band based in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The music consist of a combination between 80’s metal and modern metal. Raw vocals supported by heavy riffs and a nasty groove with a polymetric flavor and maybe some breakdowns are characteristic for their songs. By taking inspiration out of the classic 80’ heavy metal and nowadays modern metal(core), The Unslain created a crushing new sound.
Live they bring a dynamic show in which they play only self-written work. Songs from their debut album “We Will Battle” are played alongside newer material from their upcoming album called ‘Descending’. Together with their stage production they promise a highly energetic yet extremely tight performance.
On the 20th of April 2019, the band won the audience prize in the Dutch (Wacken) Metal Battle. Very proud of this result, new music is coming very soon!
