The alternative rock band Reach was founded in 2012 by Ludvig Turner (vocals) and Marcus Johansson (drums). The duo met when Marcus auditioned for Ludvig's current band and they immediately connected on such a level that they both decided to leave their bands to start their own project together. The rest is history!
I launched some newsies in the past about them, listened to some of their single and liked it very much, so here we go:
New Frontier starts with some whistling that reminds me of those old cowboy movies. The vocals are nice, the sound is a bit festive with a clear pop/rock minded slice. The song is also very radio friendly and catchy! Towards the end it gets a more bombastic touch and reminds me a bit of Guns n’ Roses. The Law starts with a very clear bass and has a disco minded vibe with a catchy chorus. This is the kind of songs that might get into your head for several days and I love it! It was a good choice as a single!
Young again might have been a new Marc Almond track! The song also sounds very much into disco and top charting songs! Once again the chorus is very catchy and the melodic part is just awesome!
Satellite starts like a real rocker! I cherish the smoking guitar sound! It’s cool to hear another kind of sound! I like the track and the variety with the sound of this same song. The backings gives it a sweeter touch. Motherland has a very theatrical feel, almost like as if part of a musical. The Seventh Seal sounds softer, with a nice piano taking over the sound and some electronics! Towards the end we get more emotions and more outbursts. Higher Ground has a rich variety in the vocals reach: going high and low. The music sounds like the blossoming of flowers and opens every spring feeling! This is the kind of song that wakes you up and gives you a ton of energy and positive feelings! Cover My Traces sounds a bit funny, almost like part of a circus act.
The Streets is their most recent single and rocks in a really nice way!
Last song is Promise Of A Life: a song filled with emotions and great vocals! I adore the bluesy guitar sound and the tiny electronic bleeps. It’s a very catchy song and I would almost say it could have figured during the Euro Song Festival Contest!
It was a nice trip with more than enough variation and great vocals! I hope they reach enough people to really break out and get an international crowd behind them as they totally deserve it!
