BAT EYES - I DON'T MIND
Belgian indie quartet Bat Eyes release their self-titled debut EP. Bat Eyes is a powerpop homerun. 4 tracks that burn & shine with hooks, melodies and distorted guitars. The EP collects 3 of the bands previous singles and adds the brand-new I Don’t Mind to it. I Don't Mind is a slowburner. A slowpaced indierock fuzzfest. “The track was originally intended as an album closer, but it seems to work about anywhere in an EP or album context,” singer and songwriter Koen Wijnant explains, “It's also kind of the odd one in our set, there's a lot of 'space' in it, which makes it a joy to play live. Lately I find myself gravitating more toward slower songs like this one, so maybe I’m finally growing up, or just getting old”

DISORIENTATIONS - ALLIED
Noisy post-punks Disorientations today announce the release of their debut album Memory Lanes and share the brand new single Allied. Allied thrives on a clattering & pounding bassline that goes straight for the throat, while guitars pierce and grind. The compelling track tells a story about struggling with anxiety after unexpected experiences with tragic loss. In such situations of powerlessness and malfunction, you can start to run into enclosing walls, leaving you haunted by fear. The only way to deal with this is by embracing the inevitable pain that it entails, becoming allied with the emotions you want to run from. Memory Lane is a sharp and well-knit attack on the senses. The 10 songs never outstay their welcome and have enough hooks and melodic twist to keep your ears wanting more. It’s an impressive feat for this young 3-piece from Antwerp, Belgium.

SOHNARR - PLAYING HARD TO GET (REWORKED BY CHANTAL ACDA)
SOHNARR lost derde herwerking van Coral Dusk met Chantal Acda en nodigt diverse artiesten en kunstenaars uit in de Handelsbeurs op 31 maart 2022 ter ere van de release van de nieuwe plaat: Coral Dusk – Reworked. In mei 2020 bracht Patricia Vanneste onder de naam Sohnarr haar debuutalbum album Coral Dusk uit. Een plaat die ze op de meest afgelegen plekken van Zweden en Noorwegen componeerde en opnam. Het voorbije jaar nodigde Patricia 8 diverse artiesten uit om elk één nummer van Coral Dusk als inspiratiebron te gebruiken voor een persoonlijke herwerking. Na reworks van Tiptoe en Radar, werd nu ook Playing Hard To Get onder handen genomen door niemand minder dan Chantal Acda. In deze rework blenden de werelden van Chantal Acda en Sohnarr op een heel natuurlijke manier. Geen doordachte arrangementen of beats, maar puurheid en intuïtie vormen de leidraad. Net zoals het origineel tot stand kwam in één enkele take, rechtstreeks vanuit de buik gespeeld, werd deze herwerking ook aangevuld met de hartverwarmende gitaar en stem van Chantal die spontaan kwamen bovendrijven bij het horen van het nummer. Een samenwerking waarin perfectie plaats maakt voor expressie.

BONOBO FT. O'FLYNN - OTOMO
Musician, producer and DJ Bonobo (aka Simon Green) has shared another new preview of his forthcoming album Fragments. Otomo is a dynamic single and builds to one of the hardest and most hip-shaking grooves that Green has ever put on tape. It was created by Green in his Los Angeles studio as the US was opening up from lockdown and captures that “light at the end of the tunnel” sense of return. O’Flynn co-produced the single, turning Green’s sample of a Bulgarian choir - called 100 Kaba-Gaidi - into a dramatic breakdown and beat drop. The process of the song coming together also helped to remind Green of the sense of dancefloor abandon and surging crowds that he had so crucially missed.

On February 18th, 2022, Beach House will release their 8th album titled Once Twice Melody. It is the first album produced entirely by Beach House. For the first time, a live string ensemble was used, with arrangements by David Campbell. Once Twice Melody was mostly mixed by Alan Moulder but a few tracks were also mixed by Caesar Edmunds, Trevor Spencer, and Dave Fridmann. The title track is the first single.

MATTIEL - JEFF GOLDBLUM
Mattiel, the Atlanta based group made up of Atina Mattiel Brown and Jonah Swilley, have announced their third album, Georgia Gothic. To be released on Heavenly Recordings, the band have today also shared Jeff Goldblum, the first track to be taken from the album. The brine-shock of Brown’s taut lyricism, with with softly luminous harmonies is cut against the bourbon-smoothness of Swilley’s instrumentation. “Well, my crush on Jeff Goldblum is very real. He inspired the words - but this is more of a dream where a Jeff look-a-like meets me in a bathroom. It’s the only love song I’ve ever written”, jokes Brown)”.
