Dog Eat Dog's album "Walk With Me", released by Nuclear Blast in 2006, is an impressive testament to the band's creative power and musical versatility. Although it was only available for a short time, it has left a lasting impression and is one of the hidden gems of rock music.
Dog Eat Dog, known for their innovative blend of rock, punk and funk, experienced a period of intense creativity in the early 2000s. After several successful albums and tours, the band decided to create an album that would reflect their musical development and experiences of the last few years. Work began on "Walk With Me" and the band members spent countless hours in the studio perfecting their musical ideas. In 2003 they found a new management company, Vibra, and came into contact with Claus Grabke. They worked with him on songs such as "M.I.L.F.", "Hell Yeah", "Cannonball" and "Undivided" for their new album. Marta Jandová from Die Happy sings guest vocals on the latter. The album was recorded with a lot of passion and dedication. Each song on "Walk With Me" tells its own story and reflects the band's personal and collective experiences. The powerful rhythms, catchy melodies and profound lyrics show Dog Eat Dog at the peak of their creativity. "Walk With Me" is packed with energetic tracks that perfectly showcase the band's unique blend of rock, punk and funk. Songs like "Undivided" and "Walk With Me" are bursting with dynamics and showcase the band's musical diversity. Particularly noteworthy are the powerful guitar riffs and the lead singer's distinctive voice, which give each song a special touch. Despite the high quality of the album, "Walk With Me" was only available for a short time. This was due to internal problems at Nuclear Blast and unexpected legal complications, which meant that the album had to be withdrawn from the market after a short time. These unfortunate circumstances meant that many fans were unable to purchase the album, making it a coveted collector's item. "Walk With Me" is an outstanding album that captures the creative essence of Dog Eat Dog at their best. The combination of catchy melodies, powerful rhythms and a fascinating origin story makes it an essential part of any music collection.
Showtime gets a special intro (circus minded), but once they get it rolled it’s indeed really showtime! Be ready scream along and feel the adrenaline (trumpets included)! It’s very cool that it sounds as if recorded in front of a live audience as it has indeed their vibrant live feel!
Hell Yeah! Reminds me a bit of the B52’s craziness. Let it roll and jump on and be part of this energetic rodeo!
Undivided gets on top of the brilliant musicians the extra vocals from Marta Jandová from Die Happy. This song gets however the lowest tempo, but still has a good rocking vibe (almost like a ballad).
M.I.L.F. is a great rocker with funny lyrics. Pure fun! Enjoy!
Walk With Me is the title track and sounds like their classic sound. I can live with the lyrics. The guitar play is excellent, just as the scratching and the blues elements. At some point it sounds like as if Snoop Dogg joined them.
All Night is a real old school party track genre Dog Eat Dog! Be ready to jump up and down and scream along! Party on all night long! Let’s get this party started!
ESB goes into some reggae & funk. Not my style but it really sounds good!
My Frustration is exactly what I expected when reading the title: an anti-capitalistic song! The rebels are on fire, spitting out their grief! Besides the lyrics I can tell the music and tempo is really great! Sadly the lyrics are still actual!
Summertime sounds a bit like a youngster who’s singing sweet tones like Wheezer and similar bands that came later on (ahead of this, they are would Yoda say).
Cannonball is a straight forward rocker with the perfect tempo and strong backings! This song is a cannonball!
Dark Secret has a great bass guitar in the beginning, reminding me of Rage Against The Machine, no worries: the song stays within the typical Dog eat Dog sound but has a lot of potency and raw power.
Fun Lovin almost makes me add Criminals. Haha. It’s the right description, even with the spitting out of another song (Hit The Road Jack). The A Capella end is so over the top it’s hilarious but worth it!
Now fans finally have the chance to buy this masterpiece again as a CD digipack and Ltd. edition orange vinyl - and it's also available digitally for the first time. It was fun and nice to fill this hole as I missed this album (just like a lot of others), so thank you for bringing this one up again!
The line-up on "Walk With Me" was John Connor (vocals), Dave Neabore (bass, vocals, guitar), Brandon Finley (drums) and Sean Kilkenny (guitar, vocals). The album was recorded at Claus Grabke Studios, Gütersloh, Germany and produced by Claus Grabke and Dog Eat Dog.
