Hand of Juno - Psychotic Banana (Out Of Line Music)

English:CD-review

Born in Italy in 2021, Hand of Juno started out as a female-only industrial metal trio consisting of Melissa Bruschi, Alice Lane Pandini (Infected Rain) and Helly Elisa Montin. After four successful singles together, they made the mutual decision to carry on without Alice and have since found two perfect additions that have joined them on their numerous live shows: Francesca Mancini (Guitar) and Marco Valerio (Bass).

Hand of Juno delivers adarker wave of metal, infused with electronic and techno influences, industrial noises, and apocalyptic atmospheres.

I was doubting about reviewing this one, but after listening to the album for a few times I found enough ground and variety in the styles. On top, I like the Goddess of fertility called Juno. So yeah, calling yourself the Hand of Juno

Pray Or Die starts in an eclectic way with lots of electronics and some guitars on fire. It’s clearly Industrial mixed with metal and with mister Manson as influence. Even Sabrina Carpenter, Melanie Martinez and Billie Eilish can be namedropped here. The promo talk is right: they mix a lot of styles/genre’s and try to create something new and interesting. At least the first track is spot on!

We've Built The Line comes close to electro metal (a bit like Lord of The Lost, but in this case: female fronted) and yes, you can add the names from the previous song on top. I also adore the clean vocals (what a vocal range)!

Right Now mixes dub step, R&B, Industrial rock with each other. It’s a modern and wicked one, but a good one. Just give it some time and you’ll love it too!

Destroy The Line has hammering drums, mixed with clean vocals and deep grunts. The guitars are rambling whilst the music comes close to industrial metal.

Not A Game mixes metal with a more sweet/poppy sound and with a catchy chorus. Again a cool track!

The One starts slowly, like almost a ballad. It’s again showing off this band can do a lot of things.

Psychotic Banana is the title track and sounds a bit poppy in the beginning until it all explodes with a speeded up sound: a mix of ska and heavy metal (included hard hitting drums, baffling guitars and harsh screams) and there are some doom metal parts in it too! Next to that we also get the sound of the 3 ladies I mentioned in the beginning. I feel they really had fun and I start to wander how they sound on stage and how they manage to perform all these tracks on stage and still keep the original sound.

Polline mixes a theatrical sound with Industrial metal. It’s almost like taken from a musical.

Hug My Death is one of the best tracks on the album as it mixes beauty with brutality/aggression and ugliness. The music mixes industrial with metal, but all in a very raw state. Yet the chorus is catchy as hell and before you know it you’ll be screaming it all along.

The End is the classical last blast and mixes an angelic voice with death metal screams and a sad/melancholic sound like on the last The Cure album.

Well this album needs a few spinnings before you get it all. It’s way better now that I took my time needed to discover it properly. I hope they are also on stage on fire, so be the first to tell me! Hand of Juno is here to stay!
