Noemi Aurora – Kintsugi (Disaster Version) (Spleen+)

The Italian singer-songwriter and music producer, renowned for her nearly two-decade journey with the magnetic duo HELALYN FLOWERS, has established herself as a standout voice in the Electro/Industrial and Alternative Metal realms. Her versatile and distinctive style has earned her a place among modern Goth legends, leading to countless collaborations (with Implant for example) and vocal features.

With “Kintsugi”, Noemi Aurora unveils her first solo masterpiece, a deeply personal and artistic journey that showcases her multifaceted talents in their fullest form. Acting as a true creative alchemist, she’s crafted every detail of the album herself (writing, recording, producing, performing, and mastering each track). The result is a sonic and emotional odyssey that is introspectively sensual, fiercely powerful, and utterly transformative.

From the poetic mid-tempo wave pop opener “Keep Your Tears to Water My Roots” to the mystic experimental closer “Yugen,” the album captivates with a kaleidoscope of emotions and sounds. Her music, as previewed by the cinematic single “Blood As Lipstick” and the hypnotic club hit “Shining,” blends her electro-industrial and dark wave roots with ethereal sensibility and raw post-punk intensity. Noemi’s hauntingly versatile vocals evoke legends like DEAD CAN DANCE, SIOUXSIE, and KATE BUSH, while her music reveals eclectic influences ranging from LADYTRON, FRONT 242, MASSIVE ATTACK, to COCTEAU TWINS.

‘Kintsugi’ delves into themes of pain, healing, and resilience, with raw emotional depth that reaches new heights, especially when she sings in her native Italian on tracks like “Dal Giardino Di Algos” and “Too Late To Die”. It’s an album that transforms vulnerability into strength and brokenness into beauty, inspiring listeners to embrace their imperfections and let their inner light shine through.

This transformative journey is available in stunning physical editions: a limited-edition collector’s “shining” gatefold vinyl (150 copies in two unique designs: sunburst solid white + black and galaxy transparent red + black effect) and a deluxe digipak double-CD “disaster” edition. The latter includes the “Magnetica” bonus disc with 11 remixes by very diverse artists like IMPLANT, AIBOFORCEN, INERTIA, AESTHETISCHE, LLUMEN, PSY’AVIAH, METROLAND, KORINTHIANS, VOYNA, PEOPLE THEATRE, SYSTEME PARADOXE, plus a breathtaking cover of THE CURE’sFriday I’m In Love”.

“Kintsugi” speaks to anyone who has faced the abyss and emerged stronger, weaving a tapestry of golden threads from life’s broken pieces. NOEMI AURORA invites you to embrace your resilience, turning every scar into a radiant mark of beauty. This is more than music – it’s a luminous ode to transformation and hope.

Let's hop on the bus and check the review:

CD1:

Keep Your Tears To Water My Roots shows how good she can sing as her voice goes from low to very high. It’s a mid-tempo song with a modern electronic sound. It’s warm song, with a poetic touch.

Blood As Lipstick has already been revealed before and is part of my playlist. I adore the global and very warm sound, the high tempo, the eclectic feel and the divine touch in the vocals.

Too Late To Die is despite the dark title a song with a pretty spring-minded feel. It’s more as if we should live our life and not think about death! The music is very powerful.

Shining is another highlight that has already been released before. It’s a strong song with a good vibe. Shine one! Is the most important message here!

Malicious Logic mixes electro with a techno feel and on top a siren behind the mic! I also adore the eclectic percussion!

Animal is what I would call electro pop where her vocals go high and low as if it’s easy (but believe me it’s very hard or you must be very talented).

Dal Giardino Di Algos is not sung in a strange language: it’s only the title. I get an epic feel as the song is filled with pathos and a positive feel.

Bring Me The Lake starts with a drum’n bass sound and changes into a pumped up/eclectic track filled with percussions and good beats.

The Alchemist has also already been launched before. It’s a fresh and with a geste of spring kind a song. Very poppy and really nice one!

Stranger To Myself has nice beats, sounds really great! It’s clear this one was sung with her heart and soul in it!

Untouchable is a strong and emotional electronic track. I feel a touch of Kate Bush in it. The tempo of the song goes up and down, like a wild sea.

Yugen is a soft and haunting track with some Dead Can Dance influences.

CD 2:

Friday I’m In Love. This is how I wrote it down when I reviewed the whole tribute album:

Her majestic and bombastic cover song of THE CURE’s classic “Friday I’m In Love” confirms how eclectic the forthcoming album is bound to be and how NOEMI AURORA is able to let each note and vocals resonate with a haunting beauty through the intricate layers of electronic melodies, conveying raw vulnerability and emotional strength simultaneously; a testament to her exceptional talent and artistry.

NOEMI AURORA changes the song into a more erotic minded song with her sensual voice and electronic bleeps. It’s a very original approach and I adore it! Choosing one of their best known songs shows that she really dare to play it hard and succeeds con brio!”

SNOOZECONTROL - A Strange Play (Vol.2) – Tribute to The Cure by VARIOUS ARTISTS (Spleen+)

Shining (Systeme Paradoxe mix) is a good one, no spectacular changes have been done.

Blood As Lipstick (Inertia eyeliner mix) is also a nice one, but I prefer the beats from the original track.

Shining (People Theatre's timeless mix) is again an ok mix (not so much difference with the original).

The Alchemist (Aiboforcen rmx) get changed slightly, with a bigger focus on the vocals and a more floating touch.

Shining (shine on Implant rmx) starts with the typical roaring machine’s from Implant. I clearly hear the difference in the mix and it really sounds good!

Blood As Lipstick (Voyna main meridian rmx) starts in a softer way, but keeps the basics of the original one.

Blood As Lipstick(Korinthians rmx) changes the song way more then the previous remixers. It’s almost hard to recognize the original. I hear a cold wind blowing through the song, just as a repetitive synth sound, followed by a more post-punk minded version and some strings. Well done!

Malicious Logic (Metroland's illogical malice mix) gets a retro 80’s touch with a slice of modern electronics and it sounds really nice!

Shining (Psy'aviah rmx) gets slightly changed, hard to describe it exactly or I have to play the original again (it’s in the details).

The Alchemist (Llumen rmx) gets a musical reboot (and I recognise the remixers own sound in it): a good one!

The Alchemist (Aesthetische mix)

Well: It’ clear this lady can sing (never doubted), the music is great & I hope she will go on and follow her own path (next to all the other great stuff she does with other artists). The remix album was a bit hard to review as I didn’t hear much changes in most of the remixes and the original ones where already strong (hard to beat)! On a side-note: bringing out 4 albums on the same day (same label) is a hard one!
