"Kill my Soul" stands out not only for its raw and emotional lyrics but also for its mission to bring attention to a critical issue that affects countless children worldwide. The song's lyrics are a poignant reflection of the childhood experiences of one of the Bastards, making it a deeply personal and heartfelt creation.
In stark contrast to their previously released upbeat, mariachi-filled song "Never Told me her Name", "Kill my Soul" embraces a raw and darker feel, capturing the intense emotions and gravity of its subject matter. Additionally, the song features a few musically wrong or misplaced elements, intentionally left off-center to further enhance the dark atmosphere of the raw sides of our so-called picture-perfect society.
According to official records, there were over 10,000 reported cases of child abuse in Belgium alone. However, the band believes that this number is just the tip of the iceberg, as many more cases go unreported and unnoticed. Through their music and advocacy, Fat Bastard aims to give a voice to the voiceless and inspire change.
For the release of "Kill my Soul," Fat Bastard has also produced a lyrics video that incorporates vital information on child abuse and how to recognize and respond to it. The band hopes that this initiative will help raise awareness and encourage more people to be vigilant for sign of this pervasive issue.
