Cellar Twins – Duality (Rockshots Records)

Cellar Twins is a rock metal band from Namur. I saw them on stage at the Kraken Metal Rock festival (Zick-Zack, Ittre) and was blown out of my boots by their sound! They are influenced by great bands like Alter Bridge, Volbeat, Radiohead, Smahing Pumpkins, Korn, Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold.

They starts with Millenium. The song has a symphonic start, but fast enough the guitars and drums take over and start hitting. Carl Kubinsky’s voice sounds good whilst I also hear a good bass (Elodie Vainquer). Molotov Parade sounds catchy and fast, whilst the bass is really rambling hard. I adore the chorus! Cloud Walker is an angelic ballad, with a soft and weeping sound, but also with some emotional outbursts. A good hard rocker is Selfear! Just listen to the bombing drums and rambling guitars. Carl screams his heart out! Social Waste sounds like catchy punk metal with a commercial layer genre Blink 182 and The Offspring. It’s cool to hear Carl sing in different ways (and even whisper). I like the lyrics too! Anthithesis is a timeless rocker with a cool kind of a solo in it. Wovoka starts with some humming and some electronics until Carl starts to sing and the song turns into a rocker with a slice of sweetness (thanks to the backings). In this one somehow you hear a bit better that English is not his mother language, but Carl’s voice also come close to the voice we hear when you put on any The Offspring record. Tales of Autumn sounds like a Nickelback minded ballad with a slice of Seether until the guitars take over and end it. $olace is a straight rocker, with not much details in it. Last one is Promesse and is not sung in French (as I expected with this title). There is like a tine bit of a metallic sound in Carl’s voice in the beginning. The song is a slow grower and ends in a soft and sweet way. It’s not a big blow and I miss that a bit, but I miss even harder gigs and also their live performances!

Funny thing is that I thought I reviewed this one in 2019, but could only found back a review of their previous EP. So enjoy this new coverage!
