TVINNA are Laura Fella (Faun), Fiona Rüggeberg (ex Faun) and Fieke van den Hurk (musician and producer for a.o. Eivør, Omnia, Cesair). Their first album "One In The Dark" is released today via By Norse. Look forward to an intense musical experience, that embodies female power. Enjoy!

During their very first writing session back in March 2019 The Gore was brought to life and released via ByNorseMusic later that year. It’s also the first track on this album. The beginning is pretty spooky, but changes slowly into a sound that comes close to what I’m used to hear during the Viking Series (Wardruna), but with a bass/guitar on top. You get an ethereal godsend feel. At some point you think the next song starts, but it’s just the end of a long warming up. You hear our ladies singing and dropping a medieval (or earlier) kind of touch. I like the tempo and the different voices blending in. 12 reminds me a bit of The Hu (my fault as I’m only watching Marco Polo now), but then with female voices. Once again I like the tempo and the speeded up feel, mixed with modern drums. It’s a bit strange to hear the mix of medieval, The Hu style of music getting mixed with a more modern touch. I can call it innovative, but most of all: it works! The more I listen to the track, the more I adore the drive and I get the feeling it will be a mayor hit on stage and might work as a closing track for a regular set! Kreiz (feat.Eivør) sounds like performing some kind of ritual, with heavenly voices on top and a good tempo. The song goes up and down like heavy waves of a wild sea. I feel like the song gives me energy and wants me to dance in a pagan way around a fire. Wild Hunt sounds softer then expected, nut gets carried out by beautiful voices. It’s the kind of song that grows slowly. They built it up with all kind of sounds: modern instruments, their voices and also some folk/medieval minded instruments. The song sounds more like chasing the sun then hunting down a boar. Inside - The Dark mixes dark elements with their angelic voices. It’s like using their voices to unveil what’s hidden in the dark. This song has been crafted by great people, with a lot of influences and with a wide range of sounds (some even sound like industrial). I start to get the feeling that they love to mix modern sounds with more older/traditional ones. A real slow but very captivating track is the fragile one called Sunna. It’s like as if the music is putting on a mist with it’s sound and creating it’s own landscape. Tides sounds very modern, soft and mesmerizing. Towards the end it sounds like very chaotic, but fragility is it’s end. Partus sounds like going away, leaving the darkness and sadness behind and almost being bathed in the warm sun and surrounded by a very warm and lovely feel. I think I hear the guest vocals here done by Fabienne Erni. Once again I hear some industrial influences in it, next to the more ethereal ones. Last one is Skymning sounds a bit like the Medieval Babes, but gets a wider sound and a modern approach. At some point I was even thinking they sound a bit like the female version of Anathema, with a more medieval/traditional/folk touch.

After that the silence is almost painful. It was a nice trip and a cool and innovative album! I would love to see them on stage and follow them more closely and see how their evolution will be as this first one is already very promising!
