Italië en Guido Belcanto...twee werelden met vele raakvlakken, zie ook het huiveringwekkend mooie "Rome bij Nacht" op zijn debuut album "Op Zoek naar Romantiek". In 1990 bracht Guido Belcanto op z'n tweede langspeler "Plastic Rozen Verwelken Niet" de song "Mijn Verjaardag" uit, een aandoenlijk maar tegelijk bijzonder geestig lied over in eenzaamheid je eigen verjaardag vieren, en er toch het beste van maken.
Het nummer groeide uit tot een klassieker in het Belcanto repertoire. Onlangs werd het nummer met verve gecovered door de Italiaanse, literair geïnspireerde zanger-componist Beppe Giampà; een feit dat ook de Italiaanse pers niet ontgaan is. Vlaamse artiesten die vertaald en gecovered worden in het buitenland... het gebeurt niet alle dagen !

Beppe Giampà
Singer-songwriter and interpreter of literary music. In 2009 he released his first solo album "E il sentimento brucia" follwoed in 2012 by the album "I mattini passano chiari" where he put to music some of Cesare Pavese's poems contained in the book "Verrà la morte e avrà i tuoi occhi",obtaining wide acclaim in literary cafes, clubs, literary festivals and theaters both in Italy and abroad (Germany, Austria and Belgium). He collaborates with Daniele Biacchessi on "Memorie Letterarie" a show dedicated to the most important literary works of the Italian Resistance. In 2015 he received the "Ponti di Memoria" award for civil engagement from the Ponti di Memoria Association and the MEI. In collaboration with the writer Sergio Gnudi, he interprets two literary ballads: "Era Febbraio" and "Le stagioni in città" ( inspired by the stories of Italo Calvino's Marcovaldo). In 2016, he released the album "Della fatal quiete" in which set music to the poems of some of the most important poets of Italian literature. Thanks to these projects, the singer-songwriter receives a letter of commendation from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. In 2018 he recorded "La storia delle storie" album in which the history of Torino Calcio is narrated. His last album was released in 2020 and is entitled "La porta del mondo", the second chapter entirely inspired by the poetry of Cesare Pavese.
