Django Django blijft zichzelf heruitvinden en dat is met de komst van het nieuwe album niet anders. Door The Guardian werden ze beschreven als "capable of making music that sounds close to perfection". Hun vierde studioalbum Glowing in The Dark verschijnt op 12 februari en vandaag releasen ze de gelijknamige titeltrack.
De rode draad door Glowing in The Dark is de ontsnapping aan het alledaagse. De titeltrack werd opgebouwd rond een sample van een van de spoken word releases van Dave Maclean, aangevuld met Moog synths en drum loops. De videoclip is het werk van de New Yorkse illustrator Bráulio Amado (Roisin Murphy, The New York Times, ...).
Vincent Neff over de video: "Bráulio gave me some loose directions of what he wanted me to do via email. Then me and my brother in law got a tripod, my phone and a speaker and went to a deserted industrial estate around the back of my house and shot a bunch of stuff then turned the footage over to Bráulio. We love what he's done with it and how the energy and vibe of the visuals really lock with the track."
Op het album staan o.a. de vorige single Spirals, het nummer WakingUp - een miniatuur roadmovie die zowel invloeden heeft van T-Rex als Serge Gainsbourg zijn "Bonnie and Clyde" - wat een duet is met Charlotte Gainsbourg en FreeFromGravity, de track die misschien wel alle invloeden van de band het beste samenvat.
Glowing in The Dark verschijnt op 12 februari 2021 op gelimiteerd glow-in-the-dark vinyl, standaard zwart vinyl, CD en als digitale download/stream op alle gebruikelijke platformen.
