Bazz Normann is a female fronted (Steffi Onderbeek) alternative rock band from Belgium inspired by the 80's indie pop & the 90's brit pop bands like Oasis, the Smiths …
What do you get? Well: re-recorded /re-mixed and re-mastered versions of their debut EP “Wrong Time Wrong Road” with on top 5 new songs! The reason why? Some fans wanted a physical copy and so they added 5 new tracks to make it worth it and did some extra work to get the older tracks a lift up.
Review:
All Because of You is a nice rocker with a good tempo and good vocals. The backings (towards the end) are just perfect and takes the song to a higher level. The guitars are excellent!
Tomorrow Immortal is my least favourite track on this CD. I know Steffi struggled in the past (according to me) a bit with certain passages to keep the right tone (I feel now it’s a bit better). Her voice also gets a lower bass sound. The guitar play is amazing. I just wish I could hear the bass guitar a bit more.
I Bet You Won’t gives more attention to the lead guitar (Johan Lagaert) who can clearly show off it’s potential! The tempo is pretty high and that’s a good thing! I like it!
Doctor Bill is a nice rocker with backings giving the song a catchy touch. I like Steffi’s voice here. It’s a nice new song!
Good Intentions sounds like the title. Steffi tries to sing really high and comes close to do it in a great way. The guitar play is a bit rendering a floating sound whilst there is also a rocking part. Maybe re-record it and don't be too fast happy with the result on the vocal side? It’s just a side-note (good intentions here), It's close to perfection.
The Unkindness of Truth is a good rocker with nice lyrics and cool guitar play.
Wrong Time Wrong Road sounds like performed in an old bar that smells like alcohol and cigarettes and has a rough edge. The global sound is good and I like the tempo, just like the vocals.
Selling Stories starts directly with a high drive bring us mid-card alternative rock. The chorus is nice and a bit catchy. The vocals are good, just as the global sound.
Nothing Lasts Forever is the hardcore reality. The song rocks but has also softer passages. It’s a good song.
Infected is a slow end for an album. Somehow this song feels like a false ballad and renders another side of Steffi’s vocals. The lyrics are bringing in some sadness.
This was my previous conclusion and I stand by it (getting better every day, step by step):
Bazz Normann is in the end a nice mid-card band with potential. I noticed on their social media that they are growing and I can predict they are on the good road: slowly building up a sound and working on the character of the band! Keep up the good work! Support talented people from Belgium and help them grow!
