ELM - Vessel Of Violence EP (Alfa Matrix)

English:CD-review
  Van Muylem    8 april 2023

Swedish old school EBM act ELM strikes back and releases the 2nd EP taken from the much-acclaimed brutal EBM album “Penetrator”. Expect massive bass lines and a devastating drive with strong vocals and lyrics! The EP features a total of 7 tracks with powerful remixes of the title track by J Wølf (MILDREDA, MILDRED IN OBLIVION, YOUR LIFE ON HOLD, DISKONNEKTED) and Swedish cult electronic act SYSTEM. Strongly recommended to fans of early NITZER EBB, DAF and FRONT 242!

Vessel Of Violence (weaponized cardio mix) sounds like a real cool old school EBM powered up track. I feel it’s a great one to perform on stage and this mix indeed makes a good cardio work out! Great tempo, great beats & great global sound!

For L... is a slower one with some old school pre-Front 242 hints.

Vessel Of Violence (J Wølf mix) changes the song a bit and adds some modern techno sound with it but keeps the overall old school EBM sound but could have cut out the trance-moments.

Vessel Of Violence (systematic mix by System) is an ok mix, but expected somehow more from it (due to the promo talk). The tempo is also a bit lower and the aggression has been partially taken out (that explains why I like it lesser).

Excuses Excuses (club mix) sounds like a classic EBM track with the right tempo, beats, vocals and the perfect global sound! Be ready to dance!

Ha-ha-ha-Begär (4-op mix) is not bad, sounds a bit slow and could have been speeded up or empowered with a stronger feel.

Vessel Of Violence (nak muay mix) is not bad and stays pretty close to the original and is yet a good last track.

I hope this EP warms you all up to see ELM on stage at Wol’n Bak or simply check out the rest of the music! It’s a real a goldmine for old school EBM lovers!
