[PIAS] - Singles of the week #5

English:CD-preview
  Van Muylem    2 februari 2022

Ruben Block that covers Sylver: Turn The Tide! Frankly you have to get used to it. Even my daughter who's a huge fan of Sylver had to listen to it a few times before getting into it. Killthelogo launches with Taxes a typical punk track with a metal layer! I adore it and is thus for me single of the week. Belgium up, this week!

RUBEN BLOCK - TURN THE TIDE

Ruben Block changes a dancepop classic Turn The Tide Sylver. He took away the beats and gives us instead a bluesy track!

KILLTHELOGO - TAXES
Taxes is the last tastemaker of killthelogo’s debut album, Reset. It’s 2 minutes and 40 seconds of frantic riffs and pummeling drums! A facemelting tour-de-force for fans of System Of A Down, Parkway Drive and Architects.

YONG YELLO - MARCEL

ARLO PARKS - SOFTLY

Twice Grammy-nominated, Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning artist Arlo Parks shares her first offering of 2022 with the new single SoftlySoftly presents a poppy and upbeat side to Arlo's smooth sound juxtaposed with her tender lyrics about a relationship fizzling. The song comes with a Zhang and Knight directed video, showing Arlo in an evocative picture perfect location that slowly unravels layer by layer, each stage more sparse and surreal. Arlo shares about the single, "'Softly' is a song about yearning, about how fragile you feel in the dying days of a relationship when you’re still desperately in love. The song is about how it feels to brace yourself before the blow of a break up and reminisce about the days where it all felt luminous."

FLUME - SAY NOTHING (FT. MAY-A)

Wildly acclaimed, Grammy-winning artist Flume returns with a new album, Palaces, out May 20 on Transgressive & Future Classic. The album’s lead single, Say Nothing featuring MAY-A, comes with a video. “Working with Flume on ‘Say Nothing’ has been a really incredible experience,” MAY-A says. “I'm such a big fan of Harley’s so it’s unbelievable to be in a position to create music with someone I look up to and can learn so much from. His creative process is a really inspiring thing to be a part of. I’m so excited for everyone to hear the song!”  Furthermore, Flume will make his return to the festival stage with lineup-topping sets at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Governors Ball later this year. Further live news forthcoming!

CONFIDENCE MAN - FEELS LIKE A DIFFERENT THING

Confidence Man have shared the new single from their forthcoming second album Tilt, which is released on Friday, April 1st, 2022 on Heavenly Recordings. Talking about the track, Confidence Man said: “'Feels Like A Different Thing' isn't here to mess around. Two lyrics, one riff, no fuss. It'll get your blood pumping. It'll make your ears bleed (in a good way). It'll steal your car and burn down your house and you'll still say thanks.” The track comes with a (literally) explosive film clip filmed at the 1985 Mad Max film location Coober Pedy, by director W.A.M. Bleakley. Written and self-produced by the band and mixed by Ewan Pearson (Metronomy, Jagwar Ma, Pet Shop Boys, Jessie Ware), Feels Like A Different Thing is a maximalist revelation filled with big beats, even bigger choral interludes, and the age-old directive to work ya damn body HARD.

JERRY PAPER - KNO ME

Kno Me is the first single taken from the synth-pop, weird-rock, bizarro-muzak masterpiece: Free Time, an expression of Jerry Paper's freedom on their journey to self-discovery as a nonbinary artist, groover, and, most importantly, shaker of ass. Jerry Paper new album Free Time is out April 15 on Stones Throw.
