Industrial-metal icons Combichrist release their new studio album "The Venom In The Mouth Of God" via Out Of Line Music. The record is available now across all formats, including limited vinyl editions, digipak CD, and exclusive merchandise items. "The Venom In The Mouth Of God" is Combichrist's most expansive record to date - a 13-track descent into the gap between who we are and who we perform ourselves to be. Across its runtime, founder and frontman Andy LaPlegua pushes the band's signature fusion of EBM brutality and hard rock muscle into harder, more psychological territory than ever before.
Founded in 2003 by Norwegian-born Andy LaPlegua, Combichrist have spent over two decades as one of the defining forces in industrial metal and aggrotech. With a catalogue that includes Making Monsters, One Fire, and 2024's CMBCRST, the project has built a global fanbase through relentless touring and a live show notorious for its raw, high-voltage energy. Their music has appeared in major video game soundtracks - most notably Devil May Cry 5 - and brought the band to arena and major festival stages. Combichrist will headline Dark Force Fest 2026 in New Jersey and appear at Alcatraz Metal Festival and M'era Luna this summer.
The album opens with a controlled demolition: ODR: slowly building up with percussions and later followed by rambling guitars and harsh beats. This song sets the mood and starts the story of the album: dark, scary with a doom minded future. The backings are strong and renders the power of this song. I feel this one should be a single. Fans will love it. Desolation sounds like a the best (regular) Combichrist. The Future Is A Memory puts the focus on the story telling, but has also nice beats. Born Deströyer mixes aggression and a powerful drive with storytelling and harsh beats. Feraline sounds a bit lesser harsh and softer (here with a focus on the EBM part). RISE sounds powerful, has great backings, a good tempo and is clearly fueled up once the song is at full throttle. Venom has a good tempo and sharp lyrics. It will be a pleasure to hear this one on stage. S.T.F.U. reminds me a bit of Closer from NIN (beats and tempo wise). Each Scar A Vision has nice beats but a dark story with a more introspective view. Only Here For A Good Time starts with a Depeche Mode touch, but then changes with the guitars and the more industrial minded sound. The Way We Want To Be Seen strip things back to something more - dissecting the masks people construct, the curated selves they put on display - before the record drives hard to its close. Demons Wanna Be Summoned feat. King 810, a collaboration with the confrontational Michigan nu-metal outfit whose raw intensity locks in precisely with the album's unrelenting atmosphere. Second Ending (We Have Been Here Before) is the final blast on this album and sounds like the perfect end song for a gig: all pumped up and combined with the lyrics fits as thus perfect. The beats pump up the volume, whilst the vocals are raging. There no better ending to an album as this one!
Well: this was a blast and I’m sure people at Alcatraz will enjoy the set, they will feel the energy. I also feel that in the near future a collaboration with Gary Numan might be fitted as they more or less explore the same dark future. Just a random idea to end a great album! See you soon!
