Emetropia – An Acoustic Endeavor (Independent Release)

Emetropia is a Swedish symphonic metal band for fans of Epica, Amorphis, Therion ... It’s the first time I review them, as I didn't had time before to review anything else from them.

A Gentle Breeze starts in a jazzy way with a poppy touch. I can hear that the vocals can go sky high from the female side, whilst the male side is a more deep bass kind of a voice. Both voices go well together. The song hasn’t stolen it’s title and fits the whole setting and sound! The piano sounds warm and has a touch of Avant Garde.

The First Flower Blooms is a fragile track, lead by an angelic voice that sings like little birds in spring. Once again the title has been well chosen for the song! The acoustic guitar gets some help from an organ (or something similar).

The Old Gods Requiem mixes a piano with a clean and superb female soprano voice. The sound is magnificent and proves how good the vocals are! Towards the end the song gets a cinematic and very bombastic feel!

Shifting Reasons mixes the male and female voices, together with an acoustic guitar and an accordion. It’s a nice ending for this short EP.

4 Tracks is not much, but the danger with acoustic sets is they bore you pretty fast, so this count is just perfect and good enough to show off the vocal capacities of the singers!
